Coincidentally, I am watching a 1960s sci-fi series right now called UFO.
They did love endless panels of flashing lightrs back then...but there is also a videophone! Although they couldn't imagine it would ever be in colour!
Hah. UFO. I remember that one. (Reruns, obviously, I'm not quite that old). It's fun seeing how completely wrong old scifi shows got the future (ie. our 'now'). The Jetsons springs to mind....
Yes indeed. Oh, the costumes. Painfully tight (probably literally). And....well, 70s scifi actors weren't as toned up as modern TV show actors. *winces* Every little roll of stomach, visible from half a mile away. But I loved those 'Eagle' spaeships. I remember having one as a kid. :) I know, I'm a geek.
Yes, good point. All getting on a bit. The entire cast of Blake's 7. Not one of them under 30, and most of them over 40 by the looks of it. Not that being over 30 is bad, obviously (OK, I'm biased), but you'd thinking that space piracy would be the kind of thing for younger folk.....but evidently not. Ahhh Blake's 7. And The Tripods. And other 80s British cheese. They don't make TV like that anymore. Mind you, I'm fairly happy about that. I'd much rather watch things as good as Lost or Sex Feet Under.
Yes, Lost is terrific. And apart from being generally brilliant, I also love it because it's all plot arc. I'm tired of shows with standalone episodes, designed so you can watch one in the middle of the season and understand everything. I want to watch the characters evolve, get under their skin, piece the plot together from the little clues.... So I'm excited that Lost is so popular. Makes me think that most people want to see that kind of plot arc show, as well as me..... .... D'oh. "Sex Feet Under". Oh dear. As typos go, that's a classic.
I'm old enough to remember UFO first time round. Wonderful! And Miss O, 'no-one under 30'? Shame on you! The lovely Gabrielle Drake (sister of Nick by the way) was under 30. Ooh I had the hots for her. As for your 'space-blog' I fail to understand the fascination of trying to contact 'alien' life. Best keep shtumm I think. Rather late in the day I have to admit. And I also admit to (perhaps) being quite strange on this issue - at least in respect to most other people. If it were up to me I'd beam up a 'not-at-home' signal. Which would rather defeat the point I suppose. Good job I never joined the scientific community.
Jia Li - Not sure if I've seen that one. Did you see the one in Hawai'i where he takes those schoolgirls on tour and one of them is really rude and tries to seduce him, and she misbehaves so badly he takes her on his lap and spanks her? That would be so wrong now.
Not just Babylon 5, but Star Trek! Unfortunately I'm not into the newer ones like Farscape or SG-1 because those aren't available on network TV. Otherwise I may be.
BTW, SETI is defunct. Sort of. You now need to go to BOINC to d/l new software that allows you to apportion your computer's powers for various projects.

Have you ever seen "Space 1999"? Makes "UFO" look fantastic.

Because everyone on TV in the 70s was old.
No such thing as a space explorer under 40?
Very Cool, I'm watching Clambake right now

Sex feet under? Hahah.
Ooops. A very Freudian typo!!!
hi ms. olivia...it is moonglow! remember me? i hope you are doing okay. drop me a line anytime. miss you!
Mike - I like Lost - they promised us Series Two this spring, and it's already March!
Jia Li - what is this Clambake you're always talking about? Makes me feel hungry.
M - is this Merserene or another M?
Hehee, trying to imagine what Sex Feet Under would be...
Moonglow - oooooh! Are you and Randis in cahoots? He was nudging me earlier today as well.

Mike - that's why we keep watching Lost, like an addiction. We catch glimpses and small doses of comprehension: "aha, so that's why..."
Mr B - I gather you don't believe in aliens. I'm not sure about it, but all I can say is, this is as close to space as I may ever be.
O its a Elvis movie!

And then...he did marry a schoolgirl.
I have nothing to add except the above "M" wasn't me. Oh, and I love scifi shows. :D

Mers - Babylon 5, by any chance ;)
Steli - no aliens, but you never know. Maybe I should start running SETI again.
