Haiku by email

Just wondering if I really had enough down time at work, perhaps I could blog via email.

Today, after a string of intense days where my eyes nearly popped out, I was faced with nothing to do.

So I wrote a haiku:

Birds sing in the trees
Sunshine warms the earth and sky
Smell the sweet springtime

Haiku chain :) Sorry I had to remove the previous comment, because I had 5-7-7 instead of 5-7-5!

smell the sweet springtime
sometimes pungency prevails
spray fish emotion*

Glo, I've had classical Japanese teachers here in Japan tell me it's not absolutely necessary to stick to the 5-7-5 pattern. In fact, modern haiku is more freeform.

Having said that:

Flowers and water
The dream of baking cookies
Livvy is happy

Or should I be even more traditionalist:

皐月空 (Satsuki sora - May sky)
暖かき雨 (Atatakaki ame - Warm rain)
笑顔姫 (Egao hime - A smiling lady/princess)

Sweet. I do not have your ability to write poetry (or Glo's) but I enjoy it.

Pretty! It's ironic, that I read this and the birds were singing, outside. Right on cue too! :)

I'm so happy, you started your job! Is it fun? :)
