The Cute List

This follows on from the Hot List I posted last week.

As you will see, my taste in females is more eclectic, though it seems I'm consistent with the almond-shaped eyes. There would have been more, only I can't remember enough to find them.

Clockwise from top left: Kristin Kreuk, Katherine Heigl, Aishwarya Rai, Thandie Newton

Kristin Kreuk hails from Vancouver, BC. She is half Dutch, half Chinese and Jamaican. She is ever so cute in Smallville. I wish her character had fallen in love with with Clark instead of Lex. Despite not watching the show, two cast members have made it to my list. (See Hot List for Tom Welling.)

Katherine Heigl is German and Irish from Washington, DC. Not usually the look I go for, but she usually comes across as a transplant from the 1940s silver screen. Unfortunately it was difficult saving those pics. And she does a great job being Izzy in Grey's Anatomy.

Aishwarya Rai, the Bollywood princess from Mumbai. Her eyes are legendary; it's too bad I hear she's not a very nice person. I would have liked to stick to principles and leave her out for that reason, but then you wouldn't have had a list of four.

Thandie Newton is a Londoner with a Zimbabwean mother and English father, and has been on my list since I saw her in MI:2. She is such a chameleon that she looks different in every photo. Her style is impeccable and she is a real doll, perfect for dressup. So obviously, I love all her outfits!

Sorry I couldn't put up more images but it was almost past my bedtime when I started this post!
Memo - *awaiting the verdict*
Matt - adding any to your list?

This is not the end of my lists. Coming soon are the oldie classic guys and gals for Planethalder.

The Hot List

OK. For the girls (and one or two boys (as far as I know)):

My current four faves:

Josh Lucas (1971, Little Rock, Arkansas) - has been on my list the longest. Check out those piercing blue eyes. Looking great in uniform - I first noticed him in this movie (Stealth - very cool jet fighter).

Chris Evans (1981, Boston, Massachusetts) - the one with the most official body shots, for a very good reason. Polishes up well for GQ, though. Lovely long eyelashes and soft eyes. The newest addition to my list and the baby of the bunch.

Tom Welling (1977, New York City) - the cutie boy next door with gorgeous eyes and an air of mischievous innocence. Despite being a former model, has the least body shots. I'm 16 days older than he is.

Jensen Ackles (1978, Dallas) - had to get a Texas boy in there. Hm, he does look a bit like the one in the baseball team who asked me to the high school Prom. I refused to give him my number. *kicks self*

Wednesday Wonders

On Sunday morning as I was waking up, I had the distinct impression that it was actually Tuesday, and that I should have finished an assignment that would be due on Wednesday. Probably because I had been sleeping facing my bookshelf with all the art books on it...

I haven't been a student for nearly 3 years now. It was a familiar feeling, but I don't know where it came from. It has just occurred to me that perhaps I anticipated an email I got on Monday for an interview on Wednesday afternoon, for something requiring a little knowledge...time for me to brush up on some terms, eh?

**********

I have been looking at properties and it is a mighty tiring business. So many listings, so many areas, so many estate agents. So many fine lines between an area that feels good and one that doesn't...

**********

So I was in another Porsche today, black this time. Surely a lettings agent doesn't make all his potential clients get into it to drive them from the office to the property - he nearly had to come over and get me out - and then dropped me back off at the station. It is good exercise. It's so low, he said extra low. It was like sitting on the floor grazing your bum on the road.

Also, I had to guard my facial expressions (I know, I am particularly expressive) because he read them and replied as if I had actually said something - and spent not enough time looking at the road. And then when we parted he squeezed my hand too hard. Oh yea, squeezed not shook. I think I will have a small bruise tomorrow where his thumb went.

Went to a coveted interview today at one of the auction houses. Ahem. I never know how well I do but I left feeling somewhat unhappy. They liked the fact that I am a bit of a perfectionist, with attention to detail, analytical, and in possession of a psychology degree, but...I didn't get to say as much as I would have liked because the director of a related department who sat in on the interview did most of the talking. The specialist who interviewed me seemed a bit shy, but studied my CV in detail whilst his older colleague waxed loquacious. They didn't even ask about my interest in the objects in question, so I got that in myself, though they did ask if I was interested in learning about them...But they also asked if I have a drivers license; as I have a US one I don't think they were too put off by it, but that could count against me despite my willingness to convert it.

Plus I was the first person they saw, is that a good or a bad thing?

I will let you know in two weeks or so what they decided...fingers and toes and eyes crossed!

OOH guess who I saw opposite the Houses of Parliament yesterday?

Laurence Llewlyn-Bowen, the style and fashion guru and interior designer (whom some of you may originally know from Changing Rooms) - and his wife Jackie. The reason I spotted them is because they were standng at the side of the road and she was tying a scarf over her hair.
He is known for his trademark visible cuffs - the pair seen in the pic above are subdued. When he was first on the scene they were very frilly, as were his neck ruffs. He was like Lord Byron leaping off a horse. But yesterday I don't think I saw any cuffs...

The other day I heard complaints that the global warming debate is just a British ploy to force the rest of the world to talk about the weather.

Gettit?

So yes. It's positively chilly here for May. Or maybe it's as it should be, and the past few springs have been so warm that this feels cold. Grey, drizzly, breezy. Fairly mild, but still not good enough though the sun when it does break through the clouds is surprisingly warm (ah there's the greenhouse effect). We are two and a half weeks away from June...

'Night all.

Ageism etc

So, what has Liv been doing this week?

First I have to get an old Tag out of the way, from Moody Minstrel:

What does your desktop look like?

desktop capture

Bernini's cast bronze baldacchino in St Peter's Basilica. Personal holiday pics are my favourite wallpaper.
As you can see, I also have Google sidebar.

I tag all of you who blog!

I have been:
Temping at a law firm aaallll the way out in Putney. It takes an hour at the least, assuming there are no delays on the Tube and there is enough room to get on to the first train that pulls in. It is only 3 stops away from Wimbledon. The work is easy, thankfully, so the pay is much lower than I got in the City. Jeans are de rigeur, and they seem to waltz in whenever they like - unlike the City, where I was the last to arrive at 9.30, here I was just right. The guy who sits next to me came in at nearly 10 and no one batted an eyelid...

There is a nice little cafe in Wandsworth Park that I've been going to across from the office. Today I bumped into two of the girls from the next floor down and sat with them for lunch. At one point they were talking about how it was when they first started there, and how much younger the new employees are - you know how it is, when older people talk about "the youngsters"...

I was dismayed and threw out the challenge, "How old do you think I am?
"Twenty three," spoken with confidence.
I shook my head.
She gave a look of surprise. "Twenty five."
I shook my head again.
Eyes widened and she grudgingly ventured, "Twenty seven?"
A third shake of the head.
Throwing all caution to the wind, she exclaimed, "Thirty?!?!?"
Yep, in a few weeks I will be...
Same age as they are!

***

I mean, really, if a guy my age thinks I'm just out of college, he is not going to want to go out with me, is he? I am tired of taking it as a compliment...when I'm 50, fine, but here I am trying to make my way in the world. I have often said I am about 10 years behind my peers career- and relationship-wise. So watch out, in a few years, I might finally get my dream job and meet the man of my dreams, and have kids after 40. *sigh*

**********

A few people here and on my other blog have asked if I saw any celebs at Home House on Sunday - well, if I had, I would definitely have aired it!

I've seen a couple of familiar faces right here in St John's Wood. There is a guy who looks a bit like Bill Nighy, but isn't - he was ahead of me in the queue at the bank round the corner, opening a new account.
Then tonight as I left my local Tesco, Don Warrington went in, but I've seen him before.

Of course, everyone knows that Sir Paul McCartney lives here - well, he can't stray far from Abbey Road studios, can he? Joining him are Noel and Liam Gallagher. I hear Kate Moss has been spotted, and if you were to go to the local kosher cafe round the corner, you are likely to see George Michael, Minnie Driver, Roman Abramovich, or Sir Paul.

They are all next door to their fellow slebs, the Primrose Hill set, a short walk away through Regent's Park: Jude Law, Jamie Oliver, Sienna Miller (who has now moved to this side), Jonny Lee Miller, Ewan McGregor...

Off to bed for me now
