banging head against brick wall

Yet again I have been disappointed. Yet again. Is there some law against me meeting anyone?

The guy who waited for me last week, who promised to be there when I came back, who kept in touch while I was away, and agreed to meeting up this week has let me down. He says his personal circumstances have changed and that he felt bad telling me, but he didn't want to mislead. At least he told me, usually they just disappear and I am left holding my breath for days.

This was the first time I gave my number voluntarily to anyone. For once I felt no intimidation because we have so much in common, are both expats, share similar tastes, and he even looks perfect for me. Have you ever read emails that made you applaud after every paragraph? We couldn't wait to meet. He was nothing like the usual types I come across.

I am so fed up, I don't even know what to think anymore. What a mood to approach my 30th birthday.

Awww, nevermind that! Go visit Marks & Spencer's groceries!! See those wonderful salads, admire the cheesecakes, or trifles...
Anyway, you'll be fine. I am sure of it! *grin*

LB - Yes, it's time - I am getting over this cold and sore throat now, although I'm still a bit deaf...

I will put on a skirt because it's so pretty outside (18C), and I will go out. M&S do a really yummy spicy BBQ szechuan pork noodle bowl, and a great Caesar salad, and a delicious lemon mousse...

Rats. :(
Hm. Crappy.
But it's the kind of weather to cheer anyone up. And this weekend will be baking.....
There's still the option of a day out in York, one of these days. Booking in advance, it's a £19 return from King's Cross on GNER.
We can do the Bettys thing, at long last. :)

Awww, Olivia, I am sorry and I know how you must feel, but if it had to fizzle out it's better now than later when you really start to depend on his companionship. I am sure there are many other good guys just waiting to be found..don't lose hope!

Hey! When is your birthday?????

What a bummer! When the right one comes along, everything will fall perfectly into place.

First: When is your birthday? =)
Second: Sh**!!! What an idiot. If we remember that everything happens for a reason, we can feel a bit better about it. I agree with ml, I believe that when "the right one" turns up, we won´t need to make an effort, we will behave more naturally, we will trust the guy, and so on...the thing is...where is that guy? When will I meet him?...I think that is for the Universe, God, destiny, or "the powers that be" to decide...

Mike - Yay, Betty's! Yes let's! *jumping up and down* I will be smart and book ahead this time!
How about sometime in late May/early June when the daylight is endless?

The sunshine did cheer me up, as did the blue sky, not wearing a coat, the birds in the trees, the blossoms, wearing sunglasses, and feeling quite warm!

***

Lotus - hi again. You're right, better now than later. But good guys are just so few and far between.

***

Selba - London is a tricky ocean to navigate!

***

Frog - oh look at you trekking all the way over, hehe! I ought to link here more often.

***

Beenzzz - Mr Right is going to be stellar, at the rate the good guys are passing by.

***

Michelle - which Michelle are you? I know so many! (Sioned?) My birthday is on Tuesday 10th, but the party is Sat. 14th.

***

ML - ah, just when it looked like it was going to this time...I can't wait till it does.

***

MJ - welcome over here too! That's the thing about this one. For once I didn't feel I was reaching further than I should, you know? I asked God a lot of short questions today...

Why do you describe yourself as an 'expat'? I thought you were born in the UK.

Wow, I can't imagine why you're having such a hard time meeting someone!?

Being as cute as you are I figured you would be the object of many different guys attention! ;)

Are you utilizing that great smile of yours properly?? :D

:( Sorry to hear it olivia. I hope you're a bit cheerier after a day in the sun. Mike's idea of a trip to betty's is particularly good, I think you'd like it.

Or perhaps the eyes? You could always win with the eyes!

(I dunno, Chris...maybe guys end up getting a complex and feeling unworthy.)

anonymous - Yes, but sometimes I feel like an expat in both countries as I have lived in both equally.
And it saves wordiness.

***

Chris - yet some girls can catch a guy just by looking at him. Sure I use my smile, not blatantly, but enough. Thanks for the compliment, but maybe they just don't want a good girl.

***

Red Soul - thanks for stopping by and commenting. I like hope, I am coming round in a minute!

***

Pete - yes, I was cheered up yesterday. Today is lovely too, but I woke up with a terrible headache, there is a piercing house alarm sounding outside, and I am stuck here doing the laundry from last week! Ow!

I like Betty's, I've been there twice since 2000, both times a stop on the way down from Scotland, that's how much I like it. I must tell the story sometime.
Maybe you could put it on your restaurant list???

***

Minstrel - *sigh* yes, the eyes as well. I don't know what it is...

Olivia said...

Oh god, reading my comments back, I sound so pessimistic...I need to do something about this...

ChrisinMB said...

"yet some girls can catch a guy just by looking at him."
I'm sure you could do that!
If a gorgeous woman such as yourself flashed me a great smile and gave a little wink, I know I would turn to putty in an instant!

"...but maybe they just don't want a good girl."
Totally untrue!! Many guys want a "good girl"... but the most desirable by far is a "good girl" who has the potential to become a "naughty girl" on occasion. That is what most guys want, I'm sure most would agree with me. :)

yeah moody, I think you may have a point... I know if I were in London I'd be happy to take Olivia out for some ice cream.

Olivia said...

Chris - haha, it's usually the wrong guys trying to catch me, wait till you hear what happened to me today.

Also, ice cream, ha! I get it...!
