Testing

The first minute and a half is priceless. (IF it works.)

I have to say that your blogs sail right over my head. I think that we are the classic polar extremes. I am a total scientist and you are maybe the artist that is my nemesis.

Either way, nice to see your comments on my blog. I might make more on yours if I understood more of them.

Not that you are short of commentators... :-)

Was something supposed to happen in that blank spot? I don't see anything...

Famulus - A great observation. You know what? I started out as a scientist but left the field (about 4 yrs ago) because I felt the artsy side was being sorely neglected. It was very hard to stop sounding like one, but when I lapse back into it my more right-brained readers also get left behind. :)

I try to strike a balance, but it is rather fun to think I could be anyone's nemesis!

Mers - Oh boo! I want to stream music clips for you all to enjoy and it refuses to work :(
I don't know how you feel about classical music, but this new piece, composed in 1996, is truly and beautifully haunting.

Famulus, hold on a second, isn't Friday's article on Mars scientific enough for ya?

How do you mean left behind? I consider myself quite an artsy type but I for one don't think that my brain cannot cope with a bit of science from time to time. Surely it makes an interesting change rather than being too abstract or too difficult? After all you're not giving us Hawking's more abstract theories here.
Likewise I cannot understand how your non scientific blogs can be too hard to take in by someone purely scientific? It's not as if you were writing weird theoretical hogwash like... uhm... lets say Julia Kristeva (one of my pet hates at Christie's btw).
Anyway I hope you’re feeling better and are successfully fighting that nasty bug.

PS Kristeva AND Mulvey actually. Actually there were quite a few others too! Grrr at them!

Steli, thanks but I have the html, and it works now. I am uploading and hosting my own music on a storage site, it's amazing! Anyway it is on Quicktime. Turn up the volume and enjoy. (I hope you do like it.)

LOL This is the Rox I remember! I wasn't saying all of you get left behind. I keep my topics relatively light, or I offer understandable tidbits from more complex issues.

Ugh, Kristeva and Mulvey...did you get stuck with them? The memory of those dreaded afternoon sessions is fading fast.

**I am on recovery today**

Good to hear you're feeling better.
No I was stuck with Marx and Winckelmann. But these afternoon sessions so often got my blood boiling cause if there is one thing I detest is the guidelessness of postmodern pseudo philosophical hogwash.
Olivia really though, I am sure you're a very bright individual and all but sometimes (and I am sure you do not mean to do this) you can sound just a tad condescending. Surely none of your bright and interesting co-bloggers are Forest Gumps? No offence meant.

OK, I will try to keep an eye on that. Thanks for pointing it out, Rox.

Are you kidding? I adore classical music! (Played the piano for 10 years and used to sing arias.)

BTW, it works now. It's neat how you're hosting it on a music storage site. Eery and haunting...the piece gives me chills. Isn't this the same guy who did the score for Les Trois Couleurs?

Yay, Mers! I know, doesn't it just? When my mother heard it she said she wanted to cry.

And yes he is the same guy. He also did "The Secret Garden" believe it or not. This Requiem was supposed to have been performed live at the Acropolis, now imagine the shivers up your spine!

Been wanting to put music on my blog for months but no one streams the music I like. Online storage allows me to upload my own MP3s - plus other things, in case my old lappy decides to crash eh?

sorry, I can't open it

Sorry Mich. Do you have Quicktime? Anyway, the advice says it's supposed to use your default media player......

Don't worry Fam! I'm here for you buddy! I have a tendency to comment on the side notes which Olivia handily includes in her side bar when I have absolutely no knowledge of what she's talking about, thus masking my ignorance......eerrrrr. bugger!

Beautiful music Liv, I've only been to 2 operas - one fantastic the other not so good. I love the sound of the voices, though I have to say i often find the female parts a little....errrrm.... I suppose irritating is the word! Sorry! This is certainly an exception though, stunning. I'm not denegrating the whole female opera singing community here, i am only going on what i have heard so far! until my cunning la Garda plan happens anyway!

:O Singing high soprano takes skill & training! You must've heard bad ones, Matt. ;)

O., I read a little bit about Peisner's "Requiem"; the story itself is sad! Isn't it ironic how such beauty can come from grief?

BTW, pray tell, which site are you using to house your music?
