Woo Concession

In which Olivia acknowledges Halloween.

1) Something appears behind you in the mirror.
2) Something grabs your ankle when you're sitting on the edge of the bed.
3) You're afraid to wash your face with both eyes closed in case you see something when you open them.
4) You make sure your back and neck are firmly against the back of the sofa when you read scary books or watch scary movies.
5) You walk very fast from the basement after turning out the lights.
6) You don't look out the window at night for fear of coming face to face with something.

Nothing ever happens, right? But you can't stop being silly about it!

Now it's your turn to continue the list :)

How 'bout 5b - you leave the lights on in the basement!

You definitely do NOT look at the corner the cat is staring at.

Nikki - if I ever have a basement it will be completely finished. I am scared of my aunt's unfinished half with its bare bulbs. Eeep! I'm all pins and needles whenever my mother asks me to go down and put the washing in the dryer, please.

Minstrel - hehe, oh yes. My friends freak out whenever their dog looks down the hallway and wags his tail - at nothing!

The basement lights stay on, but then I stay up all night listening to every little sound worrying that some thug has been attracted to my basement lights and saw how he could get in to my house through the basement windows.

This just happened to me last night, actually. And I do mean I was up ALL night!

lol, I love this!

How 'bout

You sleep with the radio on so that those eerie night sounds don't send your imagination into a frenzy! Ahh, but there's one problem with this one, if you wake up from a deep sleep the sound of the radio might give you an angina attack!

Jennifer - welcome. Oh dear, all night? Hope you're not too sleepy today. My gosh, I never thought of the basement as a house's weak point, but I guess it is!

Lotus - excellent timing, I just left a comment on your blog.

Too right about the radio. One time *in daylight hours* I was on the phone, walked into the living room just as a man's deep voice spoke over the radio, and I hollered! Had to apologise to the person on the other end of the line.

And, one place where I lived in London there was a very short infestation of mice, and I had to put the radio on to cover the pitter patter of their feet, because that was what kept startling me awake!

When opening doors you make sure you open them wide, slamming them against the wall behind it so as to squish any hidden ghoulies.
Have I got the right idea?
.
Hello my dear! xx

LOL! Daffy it's good to see you here, and I can't believe I missed the ones behind the door!

Do you remember that post I wrote on my blog about the weird "cat staring at spot on wall" incident I experienced in my high school days? In case you don't... (the story entitled "Feline Senses").

Minstrel - goodness, yes it was around this time last year you told all those scary supernatural stories.

I think that #6 is something that always freaks me out. Happy Halloween to you!

Beenzzz - eeh, you too?

I agree with all those things you've listed. I've thought about them some time or the other!

My mother read this one somewhere: the lights go out, you're fumbling for the matches to light the lamp, you're alone in the house...someone hands you the mathes.

ok, i forgot what # you left off w/... so i'll start w/ 6. ;)

6. surround yourself w/ stuffed animals... just in case there's a monster under your bed that intends to eat you. he'll eat the stuffed animals before you and get full. (i used to believe this when i was little).

7. don't sleep w/ your back facing the door to your room. what if someone comes in and intends to get you... you'll never know! ;)

gosh... if only i could think of some real good ones!! i'd love to give you a scare. hehehe

i love your list and have felt all the things you list one time or another. does that make me silly?!

ooohhh, just thought of one more.

8. don't close your eyes in the bathtub... what if something comes up from beneath to get you...

from my freddy kruger days....

Um Naief - one thing about stuffed animals, though. They are scary too. Once my cousin and I were in her room (she was about 7, I was about 14) and we could have sworn the Rainbow Brite unicorn on the shelf turned his head!

Yes, you are silly, so am I and every one else who contributed to the list ;)

PS Bleurgh, I remember that scene from Freddy.
