In defense of blogging

If you scroll down the sidebar and read my Quotation of the Day, you will see that William Makepeace Thackeray, one of my favourite wits, has said:

There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write.

This is blogging!

**********
In addition, Vanessa sent me a friendship email this morning. I would like to share it with you:

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:
Today my best friend slapped me in the face.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath.
The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowing.
But the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near-drowning, he wrote on a stone:
Today my best friend saved my life.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone. Why?"

The other friend replied, "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

Learn to write your hurts in the sand and carve your happiness in stone.

This, too, is blogging!

**********
The story concludes thus:

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire lifetime to forget them.

Olivia, I have the feeling that you worry too much.

Take one day at a time. There is no point to look back and regret things that are in the past; and do not worry about the future. The future takes care of itself. Live every day as if it was your last day in life -- this is enough happiness.

Glad I visited to day. Not much for poems and song lyrics when it comes to 'meaning of life' stuff but it's difficult when you identify.
Trying really hard to write in the sand right now.

I know what you mean about worrying about what you did wrong, or what you keep doing wrong. The answer is: probably nothing.

Actually, listen to Helmi, I am a miserable sod! lol!

Helmi & Matt -
I am worrying a lot more than usual right now because all I ever do is hit brick walls. This time I hit it extra hard.
It's no surprise why I am so amazingly frustrated about everything right now, but especially myself!
So I am evaluating what I am doing, wrong or not.

But thanks for all your kind words...

wise words, helmi. I wish it was as easily done as said.

olivia, don't spend too much time evaluating yourself.

"what's the point in always looking back, when all you see is more and more junk?"

No surface, all feeling.

Vanessa - I won't, I only need a little more time. I'm nearly there, just having moments. I miss you like.....like a belt without a buckle! Like fish without chips. Like a dog without a frisbee!
(Dang, we should make up more of these, they're fun.)

Anon - So glad you're still around! Looking back just happens to be a phase in the recovery process. As I said to V, nearly there. I've forgiven, but forgetting is so much harder.
"No surface, all feeling." Is that you or MSP? You so gave yourself away you know :P
