Boo hoo

Oowwwww.....forget the toes, my back is out. And I wasn't going to tell you about it but it hurts too much

:(

I hope I'm better tomorrow. My limit is 3 days, then I call the doctor. I bet, by the time I get an appointment here on the NHS, I'll be all better.

It was the heavy bags of groceries yesterday :(

I'm so used to bending and stretching and skipping and turning, that this incapacity is making me angry and I've been creeping around all day.

In fact, I crept to Boots to buy some liniment - I smell really good right now.
Then I realised I had forgotten the handwritten job app I was talking about, so I crept home and put it in a big envelope and crept off to the post box.

Passing the Library I thought, better rent a DVD to cheer myself up. Got Phantom of the Opera and Big Fish.

Phantom is great! Better than the stage show, but can I claim that it's better than Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the London premiere? I shouldn't. The cinematography, costume, sets - the whole visual feast was sumptuous.
I was telling Steliano yesterday that I like music in the minor key, and I have just realised that this is why the songs in Phantom have haunted me for so long.
Gerard Butler, a dashing Scotsman, plays the Phantom and does his own singing - he cuts a very striking figure. Why do we girls have to get a crush on him just for strutting around with that cape, or at the masquerade in that fetching red uniform with the sword? He's the bad guy!

As soon as the credits rolled on Phantom, I realised with a shock that I'd forgotten to attach the blasted photo to my CV...

I haven't seen Big Fish yet. I need to go down to make dinner...or at least, creep down.

Wish me well...

Steli, did you get the comments about you being a Ferrero Rocher hazelnut and Piano being a Giotto?

I just realised there is no hazelnut in the Giotto.

I want to know why no one will leave a comment on my blog when I do something semi serious, but everyone replays to my fun stuff. WHY?

Olivia said...

Oh Mich, you brought that question here too?
I said it was coz they got the serious brain cell stuff here and went to you for comic relief.

Get well soon...

Oh, poor Liv. hope you are better soon.

I liked both movies. They played phantom of the opera when we were going to Greece so I watched it, then listened to it while I slept. And remember our little outing to the theater. That was a pleasant evening!

Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to Phantom when I saw it on the plane, but it seemed like she was obsessed with him until the exact second she realized he had physical flaws. And I have a low tolerance for cheesy musical theatre lyrics, unless they're from the golden age. Sondheim's my dog.

Rami - I keep hearing about this Napoleon Dynamite. 3 times in 24 hrs is A LOT, Rami :P

Jia Li, did I hear it from you first?

Dearest Vanessa and JP. Puzzle: since you ended up at different ends of the country, how is it you suddenly check blogs at the same time???

V - glad you saw it on the plane. Listening to it in your sleep guarantees the tracks will get stuck in your head.
Boy do I remember our evening at the theatre! I thought of it when the movie started with the chandelier. I'm proud of us for doing that. Maybe next time we can see something else...

JP - such as a golden age production...JP, I saw Guys and Dolls last month, do I get points for that? I too prefer those but only make an exception for Phantom and some Sondheim. Didn't he write "Into the Woods"?
I must clarify something. I paid very close attention this time. Christine was still enthralled by the Phantom after ripping his mask off the first time. She herself said, after the second time, when he abducted her, that it wasn't his disfigured face that frightened her but the disfigurement that had reached his soul.
