This is what they say

When your palm itches, you will receive money.
When I jiggle my leg, a Japanese friend tells me I won't get any money.
(The latter occurs more often than the former.)

When your ears burn, someone's talking about you.
When my ears burn, it's because I'm drinking red wine.
(The former occurs more often than the latter.)

So what does it mean when...

A moth goes down the back of your blouse?

My second thought is you should get up and do the jiggy dance! Which is more proper than my first thought.
(The later thoughts occurs more often than the former) ...lol.

Surely if you do the jiggy dance you're going to run out of money real quick? :)

Thank you, INTJ - you tell them!

Honestly Caesura, you don't want me to lose money do you?

And running and screaming is worse than dancing, Steli.

I drank red wine tonight (Merlot, even!) and lo and behold! My ears did not burn!

Yes, have you heard the one about opening your umbrella indoors brings bad luck?

Olivia said...

Haha.
I thought you went for a walk.

Rami - oops, so I broke my glass too late (this morning)!

your ears didn't burn so i guess your tolerance is going up.

I think cutting your nail at night is bad luck because in the old days they used candles at night which made it more difficult to see and more likely to cut more than just the nail.

If all these are bad luck what can we do to bring good luck?

Hey V
See how practical you are? I rather think it's because you're leaving pieces of yourself behind at night, which is when the spirits roam the earth and they might claim you or something. You have to think like this when it comes to superstitions.

Bring good luck? Each superstition has its own cure. I don't know these ones.

BUT Vanessa, you know I don't believe in LUCK. Rather, by making wise decisions you can improve your fortunes!

Steli, that was a late hour to be out. What strange things did you see on your walk?

It means someone has dropped a lightbulb down your back.

Rebecca - chased indoors by a mere moth?

EB - Yay! I was waiting for someone to say that. Only a 20Sixer!

It means you are wearing your most expensive, natural fibre top and it is about to be eaten.

You are all too amusing, lol. (I'm alohalani of alohalani's philoblogsophy--Caesura's fan)

Hello anonymous Anonymous. Poor moth will have to work hard to eat that much.

Or as Inspector Clouseau would say, "mirth" or for you Yanks, "muhth".

Alter Ego, welcome! Glad we can entertain you for a while. Yes, I know you because I keep meaning to say I like your name.

I had a russian student who is studing english and she was retelling me about an article she read. Your good luck or good fortunes improves as you are more involved with people and activities. If you sit at home wishing, nothing will come your way.
